Saturday Sequins Blog Hop!

Sarah, from Saturday Sequins, is holding a blog hop today!  Our challenge was to make something from sequins!  At first it sounded really easy, so I said yes!  Then I decided it’s not so easy – I’m not a sewing kind of girl so creating something like Sarah makes would be out of the question!  She makes amazing things!  But I got the idea in my head to make earrings!  I bought some chain, and about 100 4mm jump rings, and had the cones and the black seed beads!  I needed sequins!  I bought some really really nice vintage French sequins from A Grain of Sand – she has some great vintage things in her store, you should take a look!  I bought pearl white, ivory and black.  I had plans on making something else, as well, but you’ll have to do with the earrings, because that’s all I got accomplished.  I’m getting ready for the big Delmont Apple N Arts Festival next weekend, so that is really taking all my time!  By the way, if you are from around here, you should try to make it out to Delmont, it’s a lot of fun!

So here are my earrings!  They were very tedious!  Putting the sequin on the jump ring, then putting the jump ring on the chain, with the chain already attached to the eye pin, was a challenge!  But I think the only way I could have got it done!  They were fun to make, and when I have time, I’ll make the other item that I have in my head, and then I’ll show it to you as well!  Although who really knows when that will be 🙂

Please take some time to visit with everyone else who made something with sequins this weekend!  I’m sure you’re going to find some amazing things!

Disc Beads

What do you do with those chunky disc beads you see being made? Here’s a cute earring idea for you! I used a long headpin and strung a small sterling saucer, a czech faceted rondelle, and sterling rope spacer, a disc bead, a flowery bead cap, and finally a black seed bead to make this really cute pair of earrings!

You can find these disc beads going into my SueBeads etsy store this afternoon!  There are others available, as well, and I’ll love to take your custom color requests, just let me know!

Coral with purple powder, and raku frit!
Violet with pretty blue frit!
Amber, Olive and Gray glass with raku frit!

Scuba!

There was no Sunday post yesterday because we were up and at ’em early; my daughter was starting her checkout dives for scuba! It was a beautiful beginning to the day, and we drove the hour north to Volant, PA, to Strawberry Quarry!

Here’s Hannah getting her bc ready.

Here she is getting all outfitted and finally getting into the water!

She had a great day, and the pouring rain held off until they got out of the water! She’ll have to go back one more time, for 2 dives, then she’ll be certified!
