AE Component of the the Month for May – Lesley Watt

Time for another Component of the Month – this time Lesley sent us these awesome shell cabs/pendants.  I chose a cabochon, I just can’t get enough of them!

The cabochon is somewhat shallow, so I didn’t bead bezel it, I glued it down really well and started beading around it. I wanted to invoke the feeling of the ocean, but underneath where there’s movement but it’s gentle and flowing!

I used colors that were found in the colors of the cabochon, and then added “tentacles” of size 15 seed beads and then size 11 seed beads – kind of an anemone look.

I used some awesome O-beads that I had picked up in Texas last year – they are sparkly and AB/mirror like – perfect for under water!

Right now I’m not sure what it wants to be so I’m going to leave it like this for a while.  I was thinking either necklace or pin – but maybe it wants to be part of some kind of sea piece wall art? Not sure yet.

Please check out what everyone else made, and thanks to Lesley for providing such great inspiration!

AJE Component of the Month – Baby Cabochons

It was my turn for the Art Jewelry Elements Component of the Month and I made baby cabochons.  Unfortunately, even though I was the host, I wasn’t able to complete my project.  But I thought I’d show you what I started, anyways.

This was my original design – making a paisley design with the cabs as the focus.  I drew my design out first, and the outside edge would be picot off of size 8 beads with a size 15 stop bead.

Here’s how far I got – I still have pretty far to go.  I feel pretty bad that even though it was my own CoM I didn’t finish, but this is a crazy month so I guess I’ll give myself a break.

I hope you visit everyone else to see what they made!

AJE Compoment of the Month Reveal – MOI!!!

Over at Art Jewelry Elements, we have a monthly challenge called Component of the Month.  This month it was my turn to provide the component!  You had your choice of either a trio of chicklet beads, or a pressed cabochon.  Most took chicklets, but some picked cabs.

Here’s what I made with a trio I made for myself!  I had to hold back showing it for Diana’s waxed linen cord blog hop!

I used a trio of pressed flower beads I made for myself, and indonesian glass seed beads in matching colors!  I used a really pretty butterscotch waxed linen cord, thai silver bead caps and a pretty flower shank button as the closure!  I love using waxed linen and will be making more designs, hopefully for sale at Bead Fest!

Please join in the hop to see what everyone else made with my beads!
