Waiting to be Tumbled

I purchased the book Handcrafted Wire Findings by Denise Peck and Jane Dickerson, and I am so glad I did! I have a big show coming up in October (Delmont Apple N Arts Festival) and hopefully a smaller I Made It Market one at the end of August, and I am having so much fun making ear wires and clasps! Here’s a photo of a pile of copper and sterling ear wires I made, waiting for me to get them into the tumbler! Sometimes all you need is time!

  1. If you're tumbling to just work-harden, I have discovered that you can put everything into a plastic container and shake away for about 5 minutes. Of course, I don't have a tumbler, so I have to be creative 🙂

How do you like the book overall? I've been eyeing it since it was available for pre-order.

  2. Julianna thank you! Kristi, I love those too! Clay Chick! Thank you so much for the idea! I have a tumbler but have to figure out how to work it, so this is going to be great as an immediate solution! Thanks! I like the book a LOT! I'm just getting into wirework so for me it's perfect!

  3. I haven't ventured into wire yet, but if I do, I'll definitely remember that tip too! Those are beautiful wires, and really the reason I would try it, cause I like how personal you can make an item when the wire is to your vision. Best of Luck at the shows!

  4. I bought that book, too, and while I initially thought it might be too basic I find I've referred to it at least a dozen times in the last week to see if there's a different clasp I can come up with. My favorite is the double hook. I've made a ton of them and they're awesome for both bracelets and necklaces–especially in steel.
Have fun getting ready for the show!
